Monday March 12th 2012 – In its mission to promote greater accountability in the Public Service through its monitoring and reporting of the expenditure of monies appropriated by Parliament, the Office of the Director of Audit has launched a comprehensive website.

The Director of Audit, Mrs. Averil James-Bonnette said it became imperative for her office to have an online presence in dealing with its stakeholders, to facilitate the sharing of information in a more accessible format.

“For a few years- as recent as 2007- the office simply had a link on the government's website. And it only contained basic information. Unfortunately, this link did not offer information on the office's plan's, employment opportunities, and most importantly, its audit reports,” lamented Mrs. James-Bonnette.

An online presence, Mrs. Bonnette said, would enable the office to meet the evolving needs and expectations of its clients, and extend its reach and its impact.

The website features a searchable database of the reports of Office of the Director of Audit, and an abundance of information including press releases and web links to collaborating agencies.

Mrs. Bonnette was pleased to note that “stakeholders who are interested in the performance of the office will have up to date and timely information on the office's accomplishments and will have access to the audit office's reports. The use of the website will no doubt benefit the government as it will translate into lower printing and distribution costs of our audit reports.”
