Parliamentary Representative for Vieux Fort South and Prime Minister, Dr. Kenny D. Anthony joins Vieux Fortians in mourning the sudden death of the founder and owner of Lazarus Funeral Home, Mr. Michael O’Brian, popularly known as “Attico” or simply “Lazarus”.

According to Dr. Anthony, “he was a national figure, defined not only by his business but his generosity and commitment. In many ways, Lazarus was the ‘people’s undertaker’. He assisted many families throughout Saint Lucia who could not afford a decent funeral for their loved ones. In his business, he was truly a pioneer. He designed, built and operated Saint Lucia’s first private cemetery at La Tourney, Vieux Fort.”

Mr. O’Brian will be remembered for his extraordinary generosity to the welfare of the young people. For several years, his business sponsored football and other activities in the town. He contributed, sometimes on his own accord, to several community projects in and around the town of Vieux Fort. He was uncompromising in his love and commitment to the people of Vieux Fort.

Dr. Anthony added: “I salute him and thank him and his family for their contribution to our community. He was a good citizen. I extend my sympathy and condolences to his children, his family, his close friends and indeed the entire community of Vieux Fort. May he rest in eternal peace.”
