Stephenson King on Sir John Compton's Updated Medical Condition Statement by Acting Prime Minister Hon. Stephenson King on Sir John Compton's Present Medical Condition

Sir John Compton, the Prime Minister, left St Lucia on May 1st, 2007 for New York.

The purpose of Sir John’s trip among other things, was to carry out his annual medical checkup that he had postponed for some time due to the election campaign, the requirement to establish a new Administration and the process of preparing the Budget.

Sir John had expected to be in New York for one week, but due to the scheduling of the various medical tests, his stay had to be extended.

After reviewing the results of the medical tests the Prime Minister’s doctors ordered additional tests that required Sir John’s continued presence at the hospital in New York. These medical tests have now been conducted and the results are expected within the next few days.

He is taking the opportunity to get some well deserved rest but he is in good spirit and is looking forward to coming home at the earliest possible time.

It should be pointed out that Sir John is at the same hospital that he has used to carry out his tests for the last ten years and is under the care of the same doctors that have conducted his medical examinations over the same period of time.

The nation will be informed of Sir John’s medical condition as soon as a definitive conclusion has been arrived at by his doctors.

Our prayers are with Sir John at this time as we look forward to his return and to his resumption of duties at the earliest possible time.

May God bless you the people of Saint Lucia and the Prime Minister of our beloved country.
