Thursday, January 29, 2004 - The 25th Independence Anniversary activity
the Trade and Services Exhibition set for the Vieux-Fort Free Zone has received
the approval of Prime Minister Honourable Dr Kenny Anthony.
On a tour of the site Wednesday twenty-eighth January 2004, Dr Anthony said he
was pleased with the level of organisation. He said the Saint Lucia Chamber of
Commerce - organisers of the event - had done well in the arrangements for
security, manpower deployment and infrastructural enhancement of the area to
host the exhibition.
The Trade and Services Exhibition, will see a display of goods produced in Saint
Lucia. The Chamber is hoping the event will have the effect of increasing
awareness of locally produced goods. It is hoped that the heightened awareness
will translate into increased consumption of goods manufactured in Saint Lucia.
On Monday second February 2004, booths will be officially handed over to the
businesses participating in the exhibition. The participants are expecting that
the event will provide an opportunity to interface with the many overseas buyers
who are expected to visit the exhibition.
The Trade and Services Exhibition takes place over five days beginning on
Wednesday eleventh February to Sunday the fifteenth. The first two days will be
opened to buyers and sellers. The remaining three days - from Friday to Sunday -
the public is being encouraged to visit.
The organisers have an added bonus with a packed entertainment package to
feature some well known local bands as well as calypsonians to provide
entertainment for the duration of the event.
