Thursday, January 29, 2004 - Chairman of the National Community
Foundation NCF, Emma Hippolyte says the Foundation is well poised to benefit
from further institutional strengthening following a positive report on its
first year of operation.
“In my report to the meeting I stated that we felt it was necessary to now bring
in an executive director because in administration we have Mrs. Relle Hippolyte
who is the part time co-ordinator carrying the brunt of the work. We also want
to get a home for the foundation itself because at the moment the foundation is
housed at the National Insurance.”
The NCF‘s biggest fund raiser event, the Live National Telethon, is scheduled
for Sunday February 29, at Pigeon Point. Hippolyte says the NCF is generally
inundated with requests from persons seeking assistance. This she says
underscores the need for more funding.
“I would like to use this opportunity to encourage members of the public to
support the work of the Foundation and to support us with this year’s telethon.
The telethon will be held on the Sunday after Independence every year as it is
part of the Independence celebrations,” explained Hippolyte.
Of the nine committees that make up the NCF, the Education and Health Committees
have received the most appeals for assistance.
