Fellow Saint Lucians
It is again a privilege to have the opportunity to bring you Christmas
greetings. As the sun sets on the year 2005, and we await with great
anticipation the dawn of 2006, my wish to you is one of hope, love, peace and
goodwill. It is a message that I hope will resonate in your homes, communities
and work places, throughout the upcoming year.
During the year 2005 my Ministry continued to diligently pursue its stated
mission and objectives to elevate the quality of community life around Saint
Lucia. Our work programmes continued to touch the lives of people, particularly
the poor and vulnerable.
I would therefore like to take the opportunity to thank all the staff of the
Ministry of Social Transformation, Culture and Local Government and its agencies
including:-
The Cultural Development Foundation
The Nation Conservation Authority
The Basic Needs Trust Fund
The Poverty Reduction Funds
The James Belgrave Micro Enterprise Fund
The Castries City Council
The Town and Village Councils,
for their efforts during 2005.
I wish also to acknowledge the contribution of the many church organizations in
our communities, particularly those who initiated special programmes of outreach
to communities and assistance to those in need amongst us.
To the residents of Castries Southeast, I thank God that 2005 allowed us to
continue to achieve much for a number of our communities. To those who have been
patient in anticipation of perhaps particular road repairs or community
projects, I thank you, and urge you to continue to work with me during the New
Year so that together we can continue to progress and make Castries Southeast a
community of choice for residents.
During this Christmas season, along with the support of the schools in the
constituency of Castries Southeast, we were able to bring Christmas cheer to all
the boys and girls attending school in our community. Boys and girls, thank you
for your hugs and kisses and those of you who simply said a word of thanks. I
truly enjoyed my time with you this year.
Brothers and sisters, boys and girls, on behalf of my family, the staff of my
Ministry and its agencies, and my self, may God continue to bless and keep you
during this holiday period and may you find and enjoy the blessing of love and
peace in your homes, in your communities and in your work place.
Merry Christmas St. Lucia, and best wishes for a productive and successful 2006.
