Friday 27 May 2011 Amidst increased demands on government from the citizenry, senior public servants are being encouraged to always operate within the legal guidelines.

Attorney General and Minister for Justice Honourable Lorenzo Francis, says although some public officers come under severe criticism for simply sticking to the rule of law, officers must never bow to pressure.

Minister Francis says it is critical that managers in the public service always operate within the law.

“Citizens aren’t only aware that the state must provide the necessary resources to meet their growing needs, but they are also now insisting that the state perform its functions with scrupulous regard to the principles of fairness, procedural propriety, legally and reasonably.”

Minister Francis says in the interest of democracy and good governance, it is vital that the duties and undertakings of public servants be guided only by the rule of law.
