Chile's Ambassador to Saint Lucia promises scholarships to Saint Lucians |

Wednesday 2 March 2011 – The Ambassador of Chile His Excellency Mr. Alfredo Garcia Castelblanco paid a courtesy call on Minister for External Affairs, International Trade and Investment Honorable Rufus Bousquet on Wednesday.
In receiving the Chilean official the minister reflected on the cordial relations that has existed between the two countries since 1991.
Chile has provided assistance to developing countries such as Saint Lucia in areas of human resource development via the International Cooperation Agency of Chile and other international partners such as the Organization of American States, the OAS.
To this end scholarships have been offered to Saint Lucian citizens on a yearly basis to pursue masters degrees at institutions in Chile. Training in the basic command of the Spanish Language has been provided to police officers among several initiatives including the After School Program which has been implemented in primary schools around the island.
