Tuesday 5 July 2011 The Folk Research Centre (FRC) has installed a new Board of Directors to guide the future direction of the institution.

Executive Director of the FRC, Dr. Kentry Jn. Pierre, says the new Board was installed at the annual general meeting of the organization, held on Saturday, June 25.

“The meeting ended with the election of a new board of directors which comprise Hilary La Force, Juliana Prospere, Aleyne Regis, Florita Nicholas, Lindy Ann Alexander, Marilyn Gaspard, Paul Lorde, and Leslie Charles.

“Subsequent to the annual general meeting the newly elected board of directors met and re-elected Hilary La Force to hair the board. The deputy chairman is Leslie Charles.”

Dr. Jn. Pierre says that there are key priorities for the organization including the preparation of a blueprint to guide the operations of the FRC for the foreseeable future.

“Of immediate concern to the centre is the finalization of strategic plan for the centre. The strategic plan is very important as that is what will actually detail where the folk research centre is actually going and part of that is and part of that entails the development of the folk academy that we have been speaking about so much in recent times.”

This week the FRC begins its post common entrance programme for primary school students.
