Monday, February 7, 2011 – The Seventh Day Adventist Primary School will soon have a new home, as the Government of Saint Lucia continues to express its commitment to the young people of Saint Lucia.

Construction of the new institution which includes twenty-four class rooms, an auditorium, and modern education amenities to cater for six hundred students, is well advanced.

Following a visit to the construction site recently, Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Honourable Stephenson King indicated that the completion of the school will ensure a continuation of Christian education in Saint Lucia.

“The benefits of the kind of education that such institutions like the SDA school provide, is that most times they are very focused and they develop well rounded students—the kind of people  we look for in national development.  Government has been very supportive of the project. To date we have assisted with much needed resources to ensure the project's completion.”

President of the Saint Lucia SDA Mission Pastor Johnson Charles says the present home  of the SDA primary school at L'anse Road is inadequate and the mission  is really grateful for the support of the Prime Minister and the Government of Saint Lucia.

“As an institution we have collaborated with the Honourable Prime Minister quite a bit an he has assisted the SAD schools with certain facilities like computer labs and his visit to the construction site for the new institution really affirms that his heart is in what we are doing and that is providing quality education to the nation.”

The new institution will quadruple the present enrolment of the SDA primary school and will be located on two acres of land at Sunny Acres in the vicinity of the SDA Academy.

The institution is being funded at a cost of EC$5 million; Prime Minister King is a past student of the SDA Academy.
