Monday 18 October 2010  Saint Lucia captured top accolades and honours in Condé Nast Traveler Magazine’s latest Readers' Choice Awards.   According to over twenty five thousand of the prestigious magazine’s readers the Saint Lucian experience is second to none.

For the first time, the survey also recognized Saint Lucia's Jade Mountain, taking the number two slot in the Top Caribbean Resorts category and 75th spot in the Top 100 worldwide, a position eclipsed only by The Ritz-Carlton, in the Grand Cayman for the top Caribbean billing.

Jade Mountain's sister property Anse Chastanet placed seventh in the Caribbean, while Jalousie Plantation placed 20th.

The news come as Saint Lucia’s Tourism Minister along with his Caribbean counterparts preparing for talks with the United Nations (UN) and the World Trade Organisation (WTO) in London to discuss more funding and support for small hotels.

“As Caribbean tourism ministers one of the areas we want to see improve is more support for our smaller indigenous hotels that have really taken a beaten during this recession. We need to really do more things to reach out and support them to make them more competitive in the world.”

In welcoming the achievements of our small luxurious hotels, Public Relations Manager of the Saint Lucia tourist Board, John Emmanuel says the latest awards coupled with the current marketing strategies will help spur interests and excitement about Saint Lucia.

“The fall season has begun and the SLTB is actively promoting Saint Lucia as a warm and friendly destination and a perfect getaway from the winter cold and that certainly spill out into the 2011 calendar year and we are looking forward to seeing increased figures as we move into that period. There is also wonderful news coming out of British Airways regarding its daily no stop service to Saint Lucia from March 27 2011, so the year seems to be setting nicely with regards to increases from the Winter season into the early part of 2011 and beyond.”

Saint Lucia also received recently awards for "Best Caribbean Island in 2010" by Porthole Magazine and "World's Leading Honeymoon Destination" at the World Travel Awards for the seventh consecutive year.
