Friday, October 8, 2010 –  Honours were bestowed upon nine Saint Lucians during this year’s Queen's Birthday Observance.

The investiture ceremony took place under the auspices of her Excellency Dame Pearlette Louisy at Government House this past Thursday.

Speaking at the ceremony on behalf of the Acting Prime Minister Lennard Montoute, Honourable Guy Mayers commended the recipients for their contributions to the development of Saint Lucia.

“I have always derived immense pleasure and satisfaction where   unheralded  members of the society who have gone about their daily lives in a simple unassuming manner  are recognised for their efforts  and their contribution.”

Minister Mayers noted that such patriotism and unselfishness is worthy of emulation.

“Love of country, love of community and love for your neighbours as yourself I believe were your only motivation. Among you are persons who have contributed in diverse areas of national development like public service, industrial relations, agriculture, education, health, community development, youth development, law and order, social services, transportation and business among others.”

Mr. Cornelius Lubin and Mr. Tyrone Maynard were invested as Officers of the British Empire.

Mr. George Dolcy, Mr. Hubert King, and Mr. Everton Ambrose were invested as Members of  the British Empire .

Mrs. Camille Joseph, Miss Priscilla Augustin, Mr. Felix Howell and Mr. Ernest Ceromain, were invested as Recipients of the British Empire Medal.
