Thursday January 28, 2010 – Organizers of the annual “Cruise-to-Run” initiative, boast Saint Lucia as the best leg of the event.

Race director and main organizer of Cruise-to-Run, Gerald Freisen, says through his partnership with the Saint Lucia Tourist Board, he was able to provide over three hundred and fifty runners with a smooth and uneventful five-mile run from port Castries to the Vigie lighthouse.

“Most of us are from Canada and the Northern United States where right now it is snowy and cold. Here we are in the beautiful island of St. Lucia and we get to go for a run, do what we like, and get treated like this—this is awesome!” Freisen remarked.

Plans for next year's hosting of the 5th edition of Cruise-to-Run have already begun, and according Mr. Friesen, runners particularly look forward not only to the run to the lighthouse, but also their visit to the Pigeon Island National Landmark and the historic town of Soufriere, home of the Sulphur Springs and Pitons.

“Next year, we are coming back! The cruise will be from January 23-30; we should be in Saint Lucia on the 27th of January next year and we are really looking forward to it. It will be a bigger group next year, the economy is turning around and more people will come,” Freisen added.

Saint Lucia's leg of the Cruise-to-Run took place last on Thursday 28th of January.
