Friday 3 December 2010  The the latest assessment emanating from the Saint Lucia Tourist Board (SLTB), is that hundreds of visitors continue to visit Saint Lucia known for its legendary warmth and hospitality.

Since the passage of Hurricane Tomas a little over a month ago scores of cruise and air passengers have  travelled to  Saint Lucia on vacation.

SLTB Public Relations Manager Mr John Emmanuel says the industry continues to excel despite a few challenges.

“Granted things are not as per normal like before the hurricane, but we are pretty much close to that.    Flights continue to come in, the hotels continue to operate, and we continue to work with the Water and Sewerage Company (WASCO) to ensure that there is access to potable water.  We have been able to tell the world that as an island and a destination, Saint St Lucia is indeed resilient”.

Mr Emmanuel says the quick resumption of normalcy within the tourism industry in the immediate aftermath of the Hurricane is solely credited to the dedication and commitment of the employees.

“Workers across the tourism sector need to be saluted because they are the ones who ensured that things got back to normal quickly to ensure that Saint Lucia continues to offer the legendary  service that it is known for.”

Emmanuel says the destination continues to sustain the momentum that 2010 has brought.

It is anticipated that the high level of tourism related activity witnessed in 2010 will spill over into 2011.
