Monday, February 15, 2010  Officials from  the National Emergency Management Office (NEMO), now back  from  Haiti, are  of the view,  that time  will be the greatest healer  for the survivors  of the deadly  earthquake which struck on 12th of January.

Speaking at a recent Government Information Service press conference on the effects of the traumatic events on the Haitian citizenry,  Director of NEMO Dawn French, noted that there  will be a need to share emphasis between  addressing   the full recovery  of  the  people of Haiti, and the rebuilding of the physical infra structure.

There's been a lot of talk about providing psychological support for the Haitian people but it is not something you can rush; it is going to take time and everybody's timing is going to be different. It's going to take some time to rebuild the people, even as you try to rebuild the country,” Miss French said.

Meantime, Haiti marked one month since the earthquake struck, with a day of mourning last Friday, the 12th of February. Citizens participated in ceremonies of praise and worship and one minute's silence at the exact time the earthquake struck on the 12th of January.

Over 200,000 people are dead as a result of the powerful earthquake while over one million  Haitians remain homeless, just as the rainy season is about to begin.
