Tuesday, April 6, 2010 Health and wellness will be placed in the spotlight today, as Saint Lucia observes World Health Day 2010.  Day-long activities and health talks are expected to center on the theme “Urbanization and Health”. The activities are slated for the William Peter Boulevard from 10:00 am to 6:00pm.

Ministry of health officials, including the minister for health, and other public officials in the health sector are calling on the public to participate meaningfully in the programme of activities that will impart lasting knowledge and sensitization on healthy living.

“In Saint Lucia we are going to have a number of booths, depicting health in one way or the other. We'll also have fire and electrical safety demonstrations. Some streets will be cordoned to facilitate the fair,” says member of the World Health Day Planning Committee, Nurse Mary Chalery.

The theme was selected by the World Health Organization (WHO), and the Pan American World Health Organization (PAHO). Meantime the motoring public is notified that the William Peter Boulevard is closed to vehicular traffic today.
