Friday, April 30, 2010 – Director of the Saint Lucia Tourist Board (SLTB), Louis Lewis, says Saint Lucia Jazz is an occasion when the SLTB receives the support of the private sector. Mr. Louis was speaking against the backdrop of a five hundred thousand dollar contribution from telecommunications company Digicel, towards the main stage events this year.

“It is always a very difficult task managing the resources around this time of year. It takes a lot of effort on the part of the staff, commitment on the part of all the people we have to collaborate with; notwithstanding all of the efforts, if we do not receive the financial support, it’s almost impossible to put up on a venture of this nature.”

This year marks the end of round one of the relationship between the SLTB and Digicel, which started three years ago.  Managing Director of Digicel, Keagan Cox says the company is excited to be part of the festival. Digicel, he says, is contributing both financial and technical support to the SLTB.

“The Saint Lucia Tourist Board officials say jazz patrons are in for an impressive line-up, inclusive of Saint Lucian, and international artistes.”
