Monday,  October 19, 2009  Prime Minister Hon. Stephenson King and officials of the Ministry of Health and Saint Jude Hospital met on Monday with Holdyear Enterprise Company Limited, to review the proposed master plan for the new St. Jude Hospital.

Prime Minister King described the meeting as a historic moment in Saint Lucia’s health sector.

“We welcome the opportunity and we welcome the offer to develop a master plan for us with the hope that we will consider it to be one that is in keeping with our own vision,” the prime minister said.

Taiwanese Ambassador to St. Lucia Tom Chou, says since the fire, his embassy has been moving swiftly with its plans to assist with the rebuilding of Saint Jude.

He says work on the proposed design started almost immediately after the September, 9, fire.

“The input of my government” Ambassador Chou said, “is that we will help you, in this multi-national effort,  to design rebuild the Saint Jude hospital.”

The master plan, according to Ambassador Chou takes into several factors including cost, and sustainability.
