Monday, November 16, 2009 – Saint Lucia’s Prime Minister Honourable Stephenson King, has given his government’s commitment to strengthening bi-lateral relations between the French Antilles and Saint Lucia.

The Prime Minister made those remarks during a ceremony to mark the nineteenth anniversary of the Saint Lucia/Martinique Association. The ceremony was held at the Babonneau Multi-Purpose Centre, last Sunday.

Prime Minister King said the countries have shared friendly relations for many years, and the Saint Lucia/Martinique Association is an important link in that relationship.

Mr. King said he has made several attempts to visit the Francophonie countries since becoming the Prime Minister, but several circumstances have not made the visit possible. Prime Minister King said he intends to visit the French islands at the end of January next year.

The Prime Minister also apprised the visiting French delegates on plans for Home coming 2010. Homecoming 2010 is earmarked to bring Saint Lucians residing the world over to their homeland to participate in a series of activities.
