Friday, February 6, 2009 – This year, February 22 marks a historic achievement with Saint Lucia celebrating 30 years of Independence. The community of Gros-Islet plans to mark this occasion by bringing Saint Lucians together for a day of family fun.

The event is aimed at instilling pride in Saint Lucians and to help us appreciate how far we have come as a nation by highlighting the importance of family. The event is being organized by two members of the Gros-Islet community with the support of the office of the Parliamentary representative for Gros-Islet, Honourable Leonard “Spider” Montoute.

The organizers are recommending that persons attending the event wear apparel depicting the national colours.

The family oriented entertainment at the Gros-Islet field will take place on February 22, from 11a.m.
