Tuesday, September 23, 2008 –New Ambassador of Israel to Saint Lucia His Excellency Amos Radian presented his credentials to Governor General Dame Pearlette Louisy on Tuesday September 23rd.

During the brief ceremony, which took place at Government House, Dame Pearlette wished Ambassador Radian a rewarding tour of duty.

She noted the cordial relationship between the two countries over the past 29 years, and said St. Lucia has benefited from technical and economic assistance in areas such as water technology, health and agricultural research

“We have had challenges in taking full advantage of these initiatives; the major one being geographical assistance. So I am very pleased indeed to hear you promise to do what you can to shorten that geographical distance between our two countries.  Technology has played a very significant role in transforming the world into a global village, and so I hope you will consider it as one of the areas of cooperation which you would explore as a matter of urgency,” Dame Pearlette said.

“In times when the world is turning into a global village, I will do my utmost to identify the right areas of cooperation that will enhance friendship and understanding and will be economically and socially beneficial for both nations,” said the new Israeli Ambassador.

Israel, situated in South -western Asia, is one of the countries which have excelled in the areas of Science and Technology, Hi -Tec Agriculture and Medicine.  The country with a population of seven million is this year celebrating its 60th anniversary.
