Monday,  September 29, 2008 –  In conjunction with the US Embassy, Economic and Political Division, the St Lucia Chamber of Commerce Industry & Agriculture will be hosting a Workshop on “Accessing Financial & Other Resources of U.S. Commercial Services”. The workshop scheduled for October 2nd at Bay Gardens Inn will see a number of United States Government employees who will speak on the services and support their specific agencies and departments can provide to firms doing business with the United States.

The purposes of the workshop include strengthening trade relations between St Lucia and the United States of America, also informing US firms operating in St. Lucia, including US Franchises, how to access and utilize the commercial services offered by the US Government and to inform firms wishing to trade, import from or export to the United Sates, of the numerous and varied special services at their disposal.

In that regard, Executive Director of the St. Lucia Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture, Brian Louisy, says that “with the number of US owned firms operating in St. Lucia and many more seeking to invest, as well as the number of local firms who import from and export to the United States of America this kind of informative workshop will provide significant benefits of contacts and vital information to the astute participant.

The United States Embassy’s Economic and Political Division, has been working closely with the St. Lucia Chamber of Commerce Industry and Agriculture in putting on this workshop and will be bringing in a number of speakers from the specific agencies to share key information with the St. Lucia Business Community.

The Chamber hopes that this type of workshop will become an annual event that can grow into more expansive exchanges and interactions. Already some twenty five US owned firms and franchise operators have indicated their intention to participate in the workshop. Interested firms can call the Chamber Secretariat at 452 3165 to register.
