Monday,  October 13, 2008 –  The Secretariat of the Inter-American Committee against Terrorism (OAS/SMS/CICTE) in conjunction with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), the Commonwealth Secretariat, the Executive Secretariat of the Inter-American Commission on Drug Abuse Control (OAS/SMS/CICAD) and the OAS/Department of Legal Cooperation, is organizing the “Sub-regional Workshop for Caribbean Countries on Terrorism Financing”, to be held in St. John’s, Antigua and Barbuda, from October 13 to 17, 2008.

 

The main aim of the Workshop is to build capacity on (i) legislative issues related to the financing of terrorism and the international approach; (ii) investigation and prosecution special techniques; and (iii) international cooperation.

 

The Inter-American Committee against Terrorism (CICTE) Secretariat has been collaborating in this effort with the CARICOM Secretariat, the Governments of Canada, Spain and the United States, the International Monetary Fund (IMF), as well as key private sector representatives.

 

Saint Lucia will be represented by three (3) high-level officials drawn from the Attorney General’s Chambers, Royal Saint Lucia Police Force and Saint Lucia’s Financial Intelligence Authority.
