Recipients of National Lotteries disbursement

Friday, 16 May 2008 – The National Lotteries Authority of Saint Lucia dished out some thirteen cheques to various sporting and community organisations Friday, to assist them with their various commitments.

 

The disbursements - totalling Fifty-Seven Thousand Dollars  -  were dished out in the conference room of the Ministry of Social Transformation.

Minister for Youth and Sports Honourable Lenard Montoute, who presented the cheques on behalf of the National Lotteries, praised the organisations for their voluntary work.  The charitable donation of their time and resources, he said, goes a long way in developing the youth and the community in general. 

 

“Even though we do not acknowledge it a s much as we should, we want you to know that we recognise your contribution.  I want to complement you and at the same time encourage you to continue,” he said.

 

The organisations received donations between two and ten thousand dollars in this latest round of disbursements. 

 

The recipients and their disbursements are: Saint Lucia Amateur Swimming Association $5,000.00, Saint Lucia Lifesaving Association $5,000.00, Christylights Dance Academy $10,000.00, Rotaract Clubs of Saint Lucia $2,500.00, Canaries Community Club $2,000.00,

Saint Lucia Cycling Association $3,000.00, Saint Lucia Squash Association $3,000.00,

National Darts Association $5,000.00, Saint Lucia Taekwondo Federation $2,000.00,

Elite Sports Club $5,000.00, Saint Lucia Bridge Association $2,000.00

Dennery Youth & Sports Club $10,000.00 and the Community Action Program for Safety $2,400.00.

 

“We are hoping the contributions will go a long way in assisting you and we hope, that coupled with the assistance from the Department of Youth and Sports, such assistance will help engender the kind of programmes that you engage in,” the minister said ahead of presenting the donation.

 

The National Lotteries Authority of Saint Lucia, apart from making contributions towards the development of sports through the various organisations, is also responsible for meeting the commitments of the loan for the construction of the Beausejour Cricket Stadium.
