Marian Home for the Elderly

Marian Home for the Elderly

Friday, 28 March 2008 – The Houston Chapter of the Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO) has come to the aid of the Marian Home for the elderly.  The CTO, through the Saint Lucia Tourist Board, made a donation of 19 electric fans to the institution on Thursday.

Public and Visitor Relations Manager of the Saint Lucia Tourist Board Kirby Allain, said the gesture demonstrates the social commitment of the Board and the CTO, as responsible corporate citizens.

“The St. Lucia Tourist Board, while it is the premier marketing organization for the country,  also works with local as well as international agencies that promote other agendas. This presentation comes against the background of a number of visits by other CTO chapters, that have come to Saint Lucia and seen the need to assist in other ways other than just tourism related areas,” Allain said.

Administrator of the Marian Home, Sister Annie Reneau, expressed gratitude for the fans, which she said, will become very useful especially during summer.

“As recipients, I would like to return our blessings and our gratitude to you. I noticed that two of your members had a short tour upstairs, and I am sure you would realize that these fans will become very useful for us in some of our areas,” she said at the ceremony held on the grounds of the Marian Home. “I am certain that if we can't use all, we can extend our generosity to other institutions like ours.”

The Marian Home for the elderly was established in 1952 and provides living accommodation for 65 residents.
