Monday,  December 8, 2008 –  Saint Lucia’s Prime Minister Honourable Stephenson King and government dignitaries on Friday , 5th December joined the M Group Resorts to mark the ground breaking ceremony for the Jalousie Enclave the second phase of the Jalousie Resort in Soufriere.

Prime Minister King commended the developer and founder of the M Group Resorts Pascal Mahvi for displaying confidence in Saint Lucia’s economy, at a time when the sector is being confronted by the fall outs of the global financial crisis.

“Our economy is made up of one that depends heavily now on tourism and foreign direct investment. Agriculture, which once upon a time certainly carried the economy today, is contributing less and less to our economic growth and development. Tourism and foreign and direct investment over the last few years have been the two areas that government has made an attempt to focus on,” the prime minister said.

Developer and founder of the M Group Resorts Pascal Mavhi said achieving this milestone was filled with challenges but is a great achievement for the resort and by extension the Soufriere tourism product.

‘This ground breaking milestone was not easy but filled with challenges and unavoidable delays, but we have persevered, and I am thrilled to announce today that we anticipate a soft opening on December 5th, 2010,” Mahvi said.

The Jalousie Enclave, the only planned residential development on Jalousie Bay, has committed to employing the latest environmentally friendly or Green technologies in this ecologically sensitive part of the island.
