Monday,  November 12, 2007 – The Electoral Department has published the final list for the bye-elections in Micoud North slated for November 26th 2007.

Chief Elections Officer Carson Raggie said the revised list is a consolidation of the previous revised list and the supplementary list, containing new voters and change of address of residents.

“We are quite ready and the voting centres have been identified.  There are five of them—the Praslin Community Centre, the Mon Repos Combined School, the Patience Combined School, the Micoud Parish Centre and the Micoud Secondary school. The Return officer's office will be at the Micoud Multi-Purpose Centre,” said Raggie.

Mr. Raggie said his office anticipates the Micoud North Bye-Election could be a five-way race come November 26th.  He based this conclusion on the persons who have already applied for symbols for the bye-election and those who already have symbols.

He said, “Mr. George Daniel applied for the “Gate”, Mr. Marius Wilson applied for the “House” and Mr. Mc Donald Alexander applied for the “Head.”  We anticipate the UWP will use the “Touch” and the SLP the “Star.””

Mr. Raggie has also announced that nomination day will be on Friday 16th November 2007.  The Micoud North Seat became vacant as a result of the death of that constituency's Parliamentary Representative. Sir John Compton, who died on September 7th     who was also Prime Minister of Saint Lucia at the time of his passing.
