Monday, May 21, 2007 – Prime Minister of Saint Lucia, Sir John Compton, returned to the country on Saturday evening from New York where he had been hospitalized following a series of strokes.

Sir John was accompanied on the flight from New York by his wife, Lady Janice Compton, his daughter Jeannine and one of his doctors from Saint Lucia.

Sir John is happy to be back and is at home where he will remain while he recuperates. He has already commenced physiotherapy to assist him to improve the coordination of his lower limbs that was affected by the strokes.

Sir John is fortunate not to have suffered any damage to his brain and he is able to converse, although for the time being, somewhat more slowly than usual.

Sir John has already met with Acting Prime Minister, Honourable Stephenson King and will be meeting him again today, to discuss official matters.

Updates on Sir John’s condition will be provided to the nation on a regular basis.
