Tuesday, May 15, 2007 – Given the announcement by Acting Prime Minister Honourable Stephenson King regarding the aliment of Prime Minister, The Right Honourable Sir John Compton, members of the local gospel group, “Special Blend” have felt the need to engage the nation in a season of prayer for the speedy recovery of the Saint Lucian Leader. Special Blend has invited all Saint Lucians to embrace this important call by dedicating Thursday May 17th, as a day of prayer, placing special emphasis on healing of Sir John.

Mitchel John Theobalds, one of the leaders of the group said the “Day of Prayer” will culminate
with a “Praise and Prayer” session at the Derek Walcott Square from 6:00 in the evening.

“We are going to have clergymen from various denominations, as well as some of our gospel singers throughout the island. We are going to come together, we are going to intercede and pray,” explains Theobalds.

The event she added is devoid of any political and denominational influence. “We are putting aside all these barriers, all these boundaries, for this one day and we just want to invite everybody to beseech the Lord in prayer on that day especially as we want to intercede for our Prime Minister and our nation as a whole.”
