Monday, April 10, 2006 – On Friday April 7th, excited students from District Two within the Education system greeted “Mello.” Mello is Saint Lucia's. ICC Cricket World Cup 2007 Mascot who made his first public appearance to a warm welcome at the George FL Charles Airport.

“Mello the Mascot” is assigned to strict rules of anonymity, but notwithstanding his personality profile is said to have been carefully thought out by the local office.

Project Officer for Communications with the ICC Cricket World Cup Incorporated Ms. Jennifer Gaston said the Mascot represents a Caribbean teenager, living a Caribbean lifestyle.

“ That person, that character is supposed to have the type of personality that blends into who we are, we are supposed to be youthful, we are supposed to friendly, we're supposed to be smiling we're supposed to be that party going having a nice time nice friendly people so it was decided that Mello must represent that.”

Mello the Mascot” is expected to embark on several outreach programmes between now and next year when the tournament begins.
