Thursday, July 21, 2005 - With less than 20 months left before the
opening of the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) Cricket World Cup 2007
countries like Saint Lucia which will be staging matches during the tournament
were informed of the event Logo and Mascot on Tuesday July 19th, 2005.
This was revealed as Cricket World Cup West Indies 2007 held a brand launch and
match schedule announcement at the Queen’s Hall in Port of Spain, Trinidad and
Tobago.
The event identity was developed by the ICC retained design agency Minale Bryce
Design Strategy (MBDS) in consultation with a Caribbean Consortium of agencies -
“Howzat.”
The (MBDS) is said to have overseen the development of all ICC Marks including
the CWC 2003 and the ICC Champions Trophy . The symbols are intended to
immediately identify “ICC Cricket World Cup West Indies 2007”
Saint Lucia’s delegation at the Brand Launch was headed by Chief Executive
Officer of Cricket World Cup Saint Lucia Incorporated Ernest Hilaire and
included Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Tourism Maria Fowell, Legal
Officer - Cricket World Cup Saint Lucia Incorporated Deale Lee and Information
Assistant at the Government Information Service (GIS) Ryan O’ Brian.
Saint Lucia will be hosting group C of the competition involving New Zealand,
England, Kenya and Canada and one of the semi-final matches. The opening
ceremony is scheduled for March 11th 2007 in Jamaica. There will be a reserve
day after the scheduled matches.
Following are the matches scheduled for the Beausejour Cricket Ground in Saint
Lucia in 2007.
- March 14 Kenya v Canada.
- March 16 England v New Zealand
- March 18 England v Canada
- March 20 New Zealand v Kenya
- March 22 New Zealand v Canada
- March 24 England v Kenya
- Semi-final 2 - April 25.
