Wednesday, April 13, 2005 - The Ministry of Tourism will be staging it’s annual debating competition for form four students from secondary schools around the island from April 12th to July 6th 2005.

The competition is geared towards stimulating the interest of students in the different issues surrounding the tourism industry and to enhance students researching and public speaking skills. The Most Outstanding speaker from the National Tourism Debating Competition will represent Saint Lucia at this year’s Youth Tourism Congress as Saint Lucia’s Junior Minister of Tourism.

This year’s congress will be held in October in St. Thomas.

Last year’s winner was Miss Nita Joseph of the George Charles Secondary School. Miss Joseph represented St. Lucia at the 2004 congress in Aruba.

The 2005 National Tourism Debating Competition will run over four months and will see four rounds of competition.

The finals of the competition will take place at the end of the final round on July 6th.
