Tuesday, November 23, 2004 - A four-member delegation left the island last weekend for the La Minard University Hospital in Martinique, on the invitation of the French Government. The delegation visited the building site for a new Maternity and Gynaecology hospital.

National Authorising Officer for the European Development Fund Mr. Wilfred Pierre, who accompanied the visiting party, said they toured health care institutions and met with a number of officials with respect to health care.

“One of the activities that is foreseen under a cooperative agreement with Martinique, which our Hon. Prime Minister will sign with the regional council in Martinique sometime in December, is the conducting of a seminar on pain management this is going to be done by Dr. Winston Paris. He has indicated that he would introduce pain management seminar in Martinique so this is one of the activities that we are hoping to do in Martinique during the first half of next year”, Mr. Pierre said.

The La Minard University Hospital visit is part of a reciprocal arrangement between the two governments.
