Monday, November 15, 2004 - Prime Minister Hon. Dr. Kenny Anthony has pledged further assistance to the St. Lucia Branch of the Royal Commonwealth Ex-Service League by increasing its subvention in the next financial year.

Dr. Anthony made the disclosure at the Remembrance Day reception held at the Prime Minister’s Official residence on Sunday, following the annual parade on the Derek Walcott Square.

He further echoed a call by Patron of the Ex-Service League, Her Excellency Dame Pearlette Louisy for the involvement of young people in the annual Remembrance Day observance. He said “But I think Mrs. Pilgrim gave us vital advice; she said let us start perhaps with the children”, Prime Minister Hon. Dr. Kenny Anthony said.

Dr. Anthony said while the involvement of young people was critical to sustaining the survival of the league, the entire St. Lucian community should embrace the contribution made by those who sacrificed for the sake of freedom.
