Tuesday, May 11th 2004 - The two one-day international cricket matches played at the Beausejour Cricket Ground on the 1st and 2nd May 2004 brought 6,712 visitors to St. Lucia. Visitors from the UK totaled approximately 3,490 or 52% of arrivals, while those from the Caribbean numbered at 2,846 or 43% of total arrivals.

Barbados and Trinidad comprised 72% of arrivals from the Caribbean. Canada, USA and other countries represented 5% of total visitor arrivals.

Director of Tourism – Hilary Modeste said, “Those figures are really good and based on average estimated visitor expenditure, the weekend of cricket would have injected millions of dollars into the local economy”.

St. Lucia will host a five-day test match between Bangladesh and the West Indies at the Beausejour Cricket Ground beginning May 28th.
