General Manager of the National Development Corporation, Mr. Wayne Vitalis

Mr. Wayne Vitalis - General Manager of the National Development Corporation

Thursday, May 06, 2004 - Local officials will seek to hold high level talks with resort developers, financiers and industry experts from throughout the region and North America, in order to secure potential investment for the island. The opportunity for that will present itself when the 8th Annual Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Investment Conference (CHTIC), carded for Jamaica from May 9th – 10th gets underway.

Heading St. Lucia’s delegation will be General Manager of the National Development Corporation, Mr. Wayne Vitalis. He will be accompanied by the Corporation’s Investment Marketing Officer based in New York, Mr. Carl Pilgrim.

Mr. Pilgrim says the conference comes against the backdrop of St. Lucia’s efforts, at boosting hotel room capacity from 4500 to 7000, as a means of satisfying one of the criteria for hosting the 2007 Cricket World Cup. This he says is the first in a series of activities being pursued by the NDC, as it works feverishly towards contributing to this agenda, through increased foreign direct investment.

The NDC officials will also meet with several existing hotel establishments, to ascertain their plans as it relates to further expansion or improvements of their properties.
