Friday, March 26, 2004 - Friday, March 26, 2004 - Acting Prime Minister of St. Lucia, Honourable Mario Michel has written to the new Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda, Baldwin Spencer, congratulating him on his victory in the recent general elections. The full text of the letter reads as follows:

Dear Mr. Prime Minister,

On behalf of the Government and People of Saint Lucia, I wish to congratulate you on your party’s resounding victory at the polls.
Your perseverance over the years, your confidence during the campaign and the peaceful conduct of the poll all attest to the fact that democracy is alive and well in Antigua and Barbuda.
The Government of Saint Lucia looks forward to working with your administration at both the bilateral and multilateral levels, within the Caribbean Community and at international fora, in pursuit of our common goals on behalf of our respective people and our region.
We particularly look forward to the continuation of the warm and friendly bilateral relations between our two countries and to the further growth and development of our friendly ties.
On behalf of our Government and People, I wish you and your new administration all the best in your immediate and future endeavours, as you commence your stewardship of the affairs of your country in an age fraught with difficulties, but also full of possibilities.

Sincerely,

Mario Michel
Acting Prime Minister
