Wednesday December 8, 2004 - The Cultural Development Foundation has finalized its program for the staging of the 200 National Festival of Light Celebrations, under the theme “Illuminating the Achievements of our Nation”.

The Official Ceremony for the National Festival of Light Celebrations this year takes place in the eastern village of Micoud, as part of an effort to decentralize the event. The Official Ceremony will be held at the Micoud Church Yard from 6:00 pm on Sunday, December I2 and will feature cultural performances from Walleigh, the Mon Repos Choral Group, Royal Saint Lucia Police Band, Cohn Ferdinand, Special Blend, Majorettes and Jenusse Dancers.

The highlight of the Celebrations is the highly anticipated Lantern Parade, switching on of the lights and Fireworks Display. Many communities, particularly Castries and Vieux Fort will host their own National Festival of Light Celebrations on December 12.

The National Festival of Light Celebrations traditionally marks the beginning of the Christmas festivities in Saint Lucia.
