Tuesday, August 3, 2004 -  St. Lucia is soon expected to reap the rewards of a direct weekly service out of Manchester on British Midlands International.

The airline was first slated to begin a shared service to St. Lucia and Barbados in November this year. However after an analysis of St. Lucia’s performance in the market the airline has decided to enhance its services with a direct, dedicated flight to St. Lucia every Monday.

“This expanded weekly service, particularly on a Monday will assist the St. Lucia Tourist Board in being able to capture a greater portion of the wedding and honeymoon market. The island’s wedding and honeymoon product accounts for more than 36% of annual arrivals and demand is growing.

This new dedicated, scheduled service to St. Lucia will allow us to satisfy excess demand in the market. On another front it will also allow St. Lucia to penetrate further into the UK Market,” says Hilary Modeste, Director of Tourism. The flight will be launched in November this year.
