Thursday, October 30, 2003 - The St. Lucia Solid Waste Management Authority, the lead organizer of the annual anti-litter schools march, says it is right on target with plans for staging this year’s activity slated for Friday 31st October, under the theme “Pride in Self and Country - Stop the Littering, Preserve Paradise”. Schools from around the island will be represented at the event, which will start from the Vigie Playing Field from 9:30 a.m.

After visiting a number of streets in Castries, participants will converge at the Derek Walcott Square for presentations from various representatives of several government and non-governmental departments and organizations.

This year’s anti-litter schools’ campaign major sponsor, St. Lucia Distillers, has come to the aid of the authority, in undertaking what it describes as a brilliant and creative involvement of students island wide.

The company has donated 500 bottles of Chanflor water. SLSWMA’s Education and Public Relations Officer Carleen Jules, says the corporate donation is timely, as it will serve in good stead for the duration of the march.
