Castries, March 11, 2003 - The status of the OECS Solid and Ship Generated Waste Management project will be under review this week, at a special meeting in Castries, Saint Lucia.

During the March 11 to 13 conference at the Cara Suites Hotel, Officers from solid waste management entities in the OECS and the OECS Environment and Sustainable Development Unit (ESDU) will present reports on the implementation and completion of their respective activities regarding the multi-million dollar project.

This is an important step in the OECS Solid and Ship Generated Waste Management Project because the programme will come to an end in June 2003.

The OECS Solid and Ship Generated Waste Management programme has been ongoing for the past 7 years.

The OECS Environment and Sustainable Development Unit has been coordinating the project.
