Contact: Office of the Prime Minister

Prime Minister Dr Kenny D. Anthony has been released from hospital in New York. This was confirmed close to 12:30 today by St. Lucia’s diplomatic offices in New York.

Kings County Hospital Centre in New York has also announced that Prime Minister Anthony “has been responding well to medical treatment and his health continues to improve daily.”

Today’s daily press statement from the hospital’s Associate Executive Director for Communications and Business Development, Mr Peter Griffith, also said that Dr Anthony is expected to gain “a full recovery.”

Acting Prime Minister Philip J. Pierre says “although the Prime Minister was released from hospital today, he needs a period of rest and will return home shortly.”

Mr Pierre, whose acting appointment began yesterday, presided over today’s meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, which also heard an update on the Prime Minister’s medical condition and the good news of his release from the hospital in Brooklyn.
