New US Visa Guidelines Introduced

Monday, June 16, 2003 - The United States Department of State has introduced new guidelines for US visa interviews. This new guideline will be in effect at all embassies and consulates come August 01, 2003.

The following visa applicants will not require an interview :

  • Persons under the age of sixteen (16);
  • Persons age sixty (60) and over;
  • Persons 16-60 who have a non immigrant visa that has been expired for less than one year and who are applying for the same category of visa;
  • A medical condition that prohibits the applicant from attending the interview

Embassies and Consulates of the United States may require any applicant to appear for an interview at any time regardless of the new guidelines.
