Monday March 17th 2003 - The Office of the Prime Minister confirms that Prime Minister, Dr, Kenny D. Anthony, has been advised by Mr. Matthew Roberts that he wishes to be relieved of the position of Speaker of the House of Assembly. Mr. Roberts has explained that he does not wish that the Office of the Speaker be compromised by his decision to pursue legal action against the publisher of the Star Newspaper for allegations made against him.

The Prime Minister reiterates that the courts of the country provide the best forum to articulate and pass judgment on allegations made against individuals, particularly in respect of their private lives.

The Prime Minister has extended his thanks and appreciation to Mr. Roberts for the dedication, commitment, and leadership, which he brought to the Office of the Speaker over the past six years.
