Brian Bernard

Mr. Brian Bernard during his tenure as Commissioner of Police

Tuesday, September 30, 2003 – The Government of Saint Lucia is saddened to learn of the death of Mr. Brian Bernard.

Mr. Brian Bernard served the government and people of Saint Lucia with honour and distinction for thirty five (35) years. In August 1968 he joined the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force as a Constable and rose through the ranks to the position of Assistant Commissioner of Police in 1993, a position that he held until January 1998, when he assumed duties as Senior Foreign Service Officer in charge of security at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

In March 2001, Mr. Brian Bernard was appointed to act Commissioner of Police, and he served in that position until his retirement in August of this year.

The Cabinet of Ministers offers its sincere and deepest condolences to the wife and family of the late Brian Bernard and to all of the officers of the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force.
