Tuesday, January 22, 2002 - The Government Information Service through its National Television Network on CableVision Channel Two will devote a full day of programming to celebrating the life and works of St. Lucia’s two Nobel Prize Winners on January 23, 2002.

On January 15, NTN began broadcasting programmes reflecting various perspectives on the works of St. Lucia’s two distinguished sons. On January 23, Nobel Laureates Day and the birthday of the two laureates, NTN will feature their achievements.

“We’ve decided on Nobel Laureate day that we will do special round the clock programming on the work, the life and achievements of St. Lucia’s two Nobel sons. We will begin at 9 o’clock in the morning, after our tourism guide segment and go through right until the following day,” explained the Principal Information Officer, Roger Joseph.

The programming will include biographies on the two Nobel laureates, highlights of a series of activities that have taken place over the last few years since we began observing Nobel Laureate week, and parts of the ceremonies in which they received their respective awards.

“We will show also, how we as St. Lucians, as a people, have celebrated the achievements of Sir Arthur Lewis and Honourable Derek Walcott,” Joseph said.
