Wednesday, March 27, 2002 - Prime Minister Honourable Dr. Kenny D. Anthony returned to St. Lucia Tuesday evening from Grenada, where he attended a meeting of Heads of Government of member-states of the Eastern Caribbean Telecommunications Authority (ECTEL).

The meeting was called to consider matters pertaining to telecommunications rates in the ECTEL member-states served by Cable & Wireless. Proposals relating to negotiations with Cable & Wireless for rates for telecommunications services were also considered.

At the end of the Grenada meeting on Tuesday, the Heads of Government still had concerns about certain aspects of the proposals and agreed to meet with Cable & Wireless on Saturday, March 30, 2002 to discuss these concerns.

It is expected that, following the discussions and negotiations, new telecommunications rates will be announced for the ECTEL member-states, which include Dominica, Grenada, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Vincent and the Grenadines and St. Lucia.
