Wednesday, January 31, 2001 – The Ministry of Education, Human Resource Development, Youth and Sports is equipping primary school teachers to carry out better, the important task of educating the nation’s children.

Primary schools around the island this week were set to take delivery of a wide range of reference books to be used as teaching aids. The books were purchased by the Ministry of Education, Human Resource Development, Youth and Sports at a cost of over $178,000 with help from the World Bank.

"On an average, each school will receive approximately sixty books," said John Sealy, Communications Officer in the Ministry.

Subjects include mathematics, language arts, general science, agricultural science and home economics.

The purchase of the books falls within the Ministry’s goal of improving the quality of education available to St. Lucian children.
