Sixth Conference of Heads of State Of CARICOM to be Held in St Lucia |
Contact: Roger Joseph Friday, September 22, 2000 – The Sixth Conference of Heads of State of CARICOM countries will be held in Saint Lucia from October 09 – 12, 2000. Ten countries, plus host Saint Lucia are participating. Planning for the conference is at an advanced stage and Governor General, Her Excellency Dame Pearlette Louisy, who is chairing the planning committee, is satisfied with preparations thus far. The opening ceremony is scheduled for the morning of October 09 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel and Prime Minister, Honourable Dr. Kenny D. Anthony, will deliver the feature address. The main theme for the conference is Globalisation, and the working sessions will deliberate on issues such as the Globalisation of Justice, Globalisation and Small Island Developing States, Economic and Financial Crime in a Telecommunications Era, Human Rights in the Caribbean, Networking for Regional Development in Education, Science and Technology, Culture and National Development and the Caribbean Heritage Foundation. Participating countries are Antigua & Barbuda, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Dominica, Grenada, Jamaica, Saint Kitts & Nevis, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Trinidad & Tobago and Saint Lucia. |
