Computer LabThursday, January 20, 2000 The Millet Primary School is the only school on the island to date to have a fully functioning computer lab. On Wednesday, the school officially opened the door to the completely transformed classroom, which now houses thirty computers. The donation estimated at over ten thousand dollars ($10,000.00), was made possible through the assistance of the Park City Rotary Club in Utah, USA. The computers are complemented with printers, computer tables and chairs.

Principal of the school Gilbertha Louis says, "I am extremely excited and proud as this is the first primary school to have such facility." She further states that in an environment that is so highly technologically oriented, young students in particular need to be computer literate.

The Ministry of Education has lent its support to the initiative. Teachers of the school will participate in a two-week computer training facilitated by the Ministry. District Education Officer for District IV Agatha James has suggested that arrangements be put in place so that unemployed primary school graduates in the Millet Community could benefit from the use of the computers.

Park City Rotary Club has made several other donations to the school since it’s affiliation with the school about three years ago. The school has received among other things a television set, sewing machines, bookshelves, and a public address system.
